Introduction
Water4Hussain is a project of Compassion for Humanity, a non-profit organisation. We are dedicated to spreading the message of Karbala worldwide through the distribution of free water initially.
Our goal is to uphold the legacy of Imam Hussain (a) and his followers by promoting the values of justice, compassion, and freedom that they stood for. Our approach involves providing free water to people and distributing leaflets providing basic information about the tragedy of Karbala. Our
Story
The concept of Water4Hussain is to distribute water for everyone through every household member, at least one bottle for one person by the name of Imam Hussain (a).
Sabeel-e-Imam Hussain has been a long-standing tradition in the Muslim community, where free water, drinks and food are distributed among the public during the months of Muharram and Safar. The food and water distributed only in 10 days is estimated to be in billions of pounds every year! Practice of water distribution was inspired by the thirst of Imam Hussain (a) and his family and friends who were martyred or held captive in Karbala. Water4Hussain was formed with the idea of expanding this tradition beyond the boundaries and using it as a means to spread the message of humanity, love, freedom and justice.
The organization’s founders are inspired by the story of Karbala and the values of justice and freedom that Imam Hussain (A.S) stood for. They saw the potential of using the tradition of Water Distribution (aka Sabeel Imam Hussain) to not only provide relief to people during hot summer months but also to spread awareness about Imam Hussain (a). By distributing free water along with leaflets containing basic information about Imam Hussain, the organization aims to attract people towards the events of Karbala and inspire them to learn more about his sacrifice and the values he stood for.
Water4Hussain Team believes that by following the footsteps of Imam Hussain (a) and spreading the message of Karbala, we can work towards a more just and peaceful society. The organization’s founders are committed to upholding the legacy of Imam Hussain (A.S) through the tradition of Sabeel Imam Hussain, Water4Hussain aims to honour the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S) and his loyal companions and to inspire people around the world to follow stay firm when it comes to making the right choice.
Water4Hussain distributed free water bottle on the day of Ashura (10th of 1st Islamic month) and Arbaeen (20th of 2nd Islamic month) during 2022. The response to their efforts was overwhelming, and the founders of Water4Hussain were encouraged to continue their mission including areas which may not be deprived from clean water but in need of knowing the message of Imam Hussain . So they expanded operations to more cities and towns in the UK, and began to work with local communities to promote the values of justice, compassion, and freedom.
Through their efforts, Water 4 Hussain has become a symbol of hope and inspiration for many people, both within and outside the Muslim community. Hussain (a) is recognized as a saviour of humanity not only by the Muslims but also, Hindus, Sikh, Christians and non-religious people. The organization continues to grow and evolve, as more and more people are drawn to the message of Karbala and the teachings of Imam Hussain (a).
Our Approach
At Water4Hussain, we provide free water and distribute educational materials inspired by the traditional concept of Sabeel e Imam Hussain (a). Our approach not only quenches thirst but also spreads awareness about the most tragic even that happened in the history of mankind, in the desert of Karbala. We also organize events, build partnerships, and welcome collaborations with other organizations and individuals who share our commitment to promoting the legacy of Imam Hussain (a) and creating a more just and peaceful world.
We believe that our multifaceted approach is a powerful way to honour the memory of Imam Hussain (a) and his followers who were deprived of even basic necessities during the tragedy of Karbala. By distributing educational materials alongside water, we aim to inspire people to learn the values of standing for justice beyond the boundaries of religion, race, colour and ethnicity. We all are united when it comes to justice, values of freedom and humanity.
Our Team
Our volunteers’ team is the backbone of Water4Hussain, consisting of a dedicated group of youngsters who are passionate about spreading the message of Karbala and honouring the legacy of Imam Hussain (a) through the distribution of clean water. Our team members come from diverse backgrounds and have a wide range of skills and experiences but are united in their commitment to promoting the values of justice, compassion, and freedom that Imam Hussain (a) and his followers stood for. The team is led by a Board of Directors who oversee the overall strategy and direction of the organization. They are responsible for ensuring that the organization’s mission and objectives are being met, and that resources are being used effectively and efficiently.
In addition to the Board of Directors, our team includes volunteers who are involved in various aspects of the organization’s activities. These include distributing water and educational materials, engaging with visitors and participants, managing social media accounts and website content, and building partnerships with other organizations.
We value the contributions of each and every team member and believe that our collective efforts are essential to achieving our goals. We are always looking for new volunteers to join our team and help us in spreading the message of Karbala and honouring the legacy of Imam Hussain (a).
Impact
Water4Hussain is already making a significant impact by serving thousands of visitors at different locations. Our free water distribution and educational materials have been well-received, with positive feedback and success stories from visitors. Our approach of engaging with visitors and building partnerships has helped us expand our reach and impact. We are committed to continuing our efforts to spread the message of Hussain (a) and make a positive impact in our world, and hope to inspire to unite, be fair, make the right choices in life and serve humanity.
Through the support of our team, volunteers, and donors, we hope to reach even more people not only in the United Kingdom but to other countries. Water distribution for Hussain (aka Sabeel e Imam Hussain) is common in many countries. We aim to promote this cause in more places. We also aim to deliver free clean drinking water to millions of humans who are deprived of the necessities of life even today.

We are always looking for dedicated volunteers who are passionate about this cause and willing to contribute their time and skills which can benefitted in many ways.
